for a friend and for us all

mortal wishes

what if we only had  a short time to live

and we knew it

could we smile, carry on

as if the world is endless

and our  love will save us

and food , flowers and family

will reverberate

never  saying hush

for a minute, a moment, an hour

we live and breathe

we smile, sigh, frown

and then laugh

with mirth 

life has been a blast

an atomic blast of the heart

the wipe out of the soul

yet fresh and fine

as the early morning

dew and the waiting 

children all in line

did we play like them

so long ago

running , skating, jumping,sledding

yelling

and hugging  each other

did we pout

when our dreams

did not turn out?

well, with the air that is left

the sky and sun so bright

think and love

on and on

and may tomorrow

bring more life

to live

and live

without a thought to

the next day's

We miss the joy of today's train just in the gloom of upcoming suspenseful tomorrow!!

some have the ability to do this...it is so admirable...make the best of their last days...brighten other people's lives even while theirs are dimming...
first line i read "is" as "if"---
