"With This Click, I Thee Web"
My heart was heavily guarded,
None inside might be permitted.
Long neglect had rendered it hardened,
As upon Life's abuses 'twas spitted!
Then arose, unanticipated
From a place where I'd never dared look
She for whom my heart had long waited
A new chapter within my life's book!
Began we at first blush with caution,
Awakening passions long-quiet,
But ere long, knots were loosed, too long tautened
So decided we may as well try it!
Now, Fair Reader, condemn not in haste,
For I sought not her bed first, or soon,
I longed not her fair Spirit to waste
By behaving too like a buffoon!
No, her heart and her mind I first delved
Learning all that I might of her life
Love came first, before Caution was shelved
And I then made of her my e-wife!
What between us has passed I'll not share,
But within my heart's closet hold close.
Nor would I ever cause her despair--
But instead, to our Love raise a toast!
What has happened here, who could foresee?--
It has taken me quite by surprise!
But I know, Here's where I need to be
Every time I look into her eyes!
So, Fair Reader, would you wish us the best,
Nor condemn what you don't wish to see?
As our lives survive each day's new test:
Hand-in-hand, heart-by-heart, her with me!
