THEY

THEY

A Poem by Mark
"

...for Helena's latest contest, with a twist...

"

            THEY

They're    ever in my mind, those imps,

Writing    words no heart ought ever read,

Songs       no tongue dares utter...

Of            one thing I am sure:

Love        WILL surely triumph over hatred,

But          will it do so in MY lifetime?

Not          likely, I freely admit

For          I behold it now, receding again from

Me,          as I weep my impatient tears...

You note this is for a contest so maybe that is why it is two roads side by side. I like the concept no matter. I love lyrics and those times when you hear a song that just speaks right to you.... an emotion, an event, something you wish ya had done.... You captured that feeling of hearing something that was.... just meant for you and touched ya to the core..... good one

I love the way you put this together! I felt compelled to read the bold before I read the complete poem. Great message in both!

I haven't read anything quite like it, it's a special piece. creative, original, soft-spoken, very powerful. It's almost magic....

This is an extremely well written piece and the experiment at making the first words tell the tale is amazing and beautiful bravo

The format you used captures the eye. Which is always step one.
I enjoyed this piece, to the poet those ideas are a hidden resorce that is
always with us, and never around when under a dead line.
Nice flow and a smooth pace.

Dear Mark,

Another wonderful poem. The highest praise I can give is that this acrostic simply doesn't feel like many forced acrostic poems.

Now WILL love triumph over hatred? Well I'd surely like to think so. And I hope so. Let's all hope so. And if we all hope so, maybe this shall pass, because this cannot be accomplished by one, or a few, or even the many. It needs all of us.

Two beautiful messages in one poem, and I hope that your personal quest for love will soon be satisfied.

Best regards,

Rick
