A Poem by Martha Gilleece
"

I just received nightmarish news from my best friend, miles and miles away. ~I'd give my right arm to be there for support, know how much I love you~

"
a film plays out over time
each scene reenacts a memory
confusion
it will take over
reality becomes an act
the act becomes a dream
what’s left? is it real?
making herself at home
she lie across the dirty cement
eyes rolled back
the memories fade
surreal to what’s known
if her eyes are to open,
know your shield too will rise
to expose a hollowness
that once oozed with truth and passion
still on the edge of consciousness
nothing is left to see

The words open up the mind to ponder many scenarios. I doubt any one person might view the piece the same, thus it makes the work a wonderful work of art. Some of the best poetry comes to ink when the mind is far away upon different tides.
