Some Lucid Tale

Some Lucid Tale

A Poem by mathiasthom

Just another handsome face
with another selfish agenda
to get off on life
slowly losing oneself
Take the pills and drink the wine
channeling Dorothy Parker
as you slowly lose your mind,
but write it all down this time
Now it will never slip away
this defeatism having a field day
having the balls to actually say,
“ just a self-professed poet in this sorry town”
Observing them, as they crucify
through social media,
in all of its glorious irresponsibility
hoping to get it right
How would one even begin to fathom
some lucid tale of emotion
transforming into some rallying anthem
while drowning in this spectral ocean
Complaining men can only condemn
shame is just part of the game
having no voice, or obvious choice
in this lackluster wilderness so tamed
