Clout

Clout

A Poem by mathiasthom

Not a part of this life
so get over this solitude,
advice from some troubled wife
full of self righteous attitude

Should I name names
point the finger and blame
create drama and strain
release it all, never contained?

As another empty life
goes sliding down the drain
a rock bottom not so solid
walking out of this frame

No more, 'I love you' man
do you even understand?
not some putty in your hands
clinging needs, wounds that bleed

Tried to be respectable
made out to be some spectacle
out on the street
never to openly greet

Does any of this ring a bell?
or are you really feeling so well
being subjected to
another version of hell?

Can't break what won't be fixed
another passing second
one more chance sadly missed
how the theatrics beckon

This scene is certainly played out
left in a shifting world of doubt
yet honest intentions
never quite carry any clout
