Ironic

Ironic

A Poem by Michael Opoku-Addo

Isn't it ironic, the effect love can have on you,
when the person of your dreams smile and you think, I love you too,
but you don't tell the person how you feel,
because you could get ridiculed, in that there is no appeal.

You look at the person and you cry deep in your heart,
because of your ego, you are too far apart
for your liking, you want to be right by their side
but because of ridicule, you run and hide.

You see them with someone else and you feel jealousy,
you think, it's hell on earth made just for me.
You see their other half and you wish that you were them,
to spend time with your crown, your precious gem.

In conclusion, forget about the stupid ridicule,
before you lose the heart of your love and feel as dumb as a mule,
because now your love has come and gone,
you may have escaped ridicule, but have you won?

Very nice! Brilliant idea and with a little editing and changing, I'm sure it'll become even better.

I like this bit about "because of ridicule", it's a fascinating concept and experience.
