The secrets of your Heart

The secrets of your Heart

A Poem by Michael Corkill

How do I ask you
the things I should already know?
And what is it that I have not begun to see?

My eyes are trained for truth.
And my ears are keen to listen.
But love is blind to its own rewards.

As my thoughts fall softly
   into darkness I drift safely.
Then, with the light you appear.

Walking on the tides,
   washing in the waves,
sit with me on the rocky shores.
Let our plans be made
   and watch the heavens parade
      their glorious splendor.

Reveal to me
   your fears and dreams.
The secrets of your heart
   and most precious desires.

May I see you as no other
   shall endeavor to behold.
To cherish, look and breathe on you,
your image my heart will hold.
Forever…
