the tempted, the temptress, the snake

the tempted, the temptress, the snake

A Poem by Michael

Eve
Her beauty mistaken for pleasure
Our eyes now lust for loveless endeavors
The innocence we have lost
Paralytic to touch
We grow stagnant minds alike
New grains of time will not rewind
Forever the shame and despair
Of taking part
Eating our fair share

Honestly honesty means nothing
We bear the fruit of the tree
Forgiveness wilted
Choose your poison wisely
Your lips against mine
The sweet seduction
We'll all fall prey in time

Adam swiftly bit the apple
Giving into
The temptress
As we still chew
Today and choke
On the pride going down his throat
Love entangles
Love in time grows
Humbling to sit back and watch it through
All of the actions it took to get you
Such a shame
What it is we are turning into

Honestly honesty means nothing
We bear the fruit of the tree
Forgiveness wilted
Choose your poison wisely
Your lips against mine
The sweet seduction
We'll all fall prey in time

All over again
The snake reminds us the past is real
Slivering up beside us
Lies are infectious
He wants to inject us
With shame, hurt, and pain
But please understand me
Don't be condescending
There is no right and no wrong
Full of deception
We think in perception
That brings forth these questions
Of faith, hope, and truth

Love entangles
Love in time grows
Humbling to sit back and watch it through
All of the actions it took to get you
Such a shame, our pride
What it is we are turning into

Love's not all lost
But it's nailed to my cross
And crucified all that I've held onto
Loves not a feeling
Its movement of healing
And now that your injuring
Ill carry you with me
Promise,
You'll just hold on

Brilliant!

It's great to read a poem of philosophy and religion intwined in a lover's heart,
and a maturity in revealing there is no right or wrong;
there is only is,
in being,
and forever the path is movement from that same day of temptation,
all relevancy, a relation,
to my mere words and the curse of Adam and Eve, and all the world deceived,
each day more,
and this is seeing.
But what is believing is in our own, within,
there is or isn't even sin;
we shall only be judged by God; the gods have been snakes before us,
God has been tempted by a snake,
and gods too are real, the teachings they have led before men;
but all of this is History, in all of which cannot be recalled,
whose to say that man will fall, or the universe will deplete through time,
or that any thoughts which anyone has is worth another man's time?
But it is.
We need companionship; looking into another's being;
their soul, their eyes, to believe in believing;
love, so real, to get past all contemplation, through the strife of life,
devastation;
through the same tempations the world will throw;
everyday such is bestowed,
but there are some men who can look away
and just be
an example
of being exemplar:
stay within the self for self control
to only show to self what it means to be true;
and I promise,
I will hold on.

I like where you say, "Choose your poison wisely". I see it as a reflection on how we are all fallen, and therefore sinners, so we might as well choose our poison, and do it wisely.

I really loved this; very symbolic. I loved the play on words & repetition in the line "Honestly honesty means nothing" Great! (: The second stanza is very pretty & flows well~ I also liked the idea that Adam choked on the apple & we're still choking on it today, in order to represent that we are still feeling the effects of the sins committed by Adam & Eve. Great job with this, I really enjoyed reading!!! :)
