That Summer

That Summer

A Poem by Save the Trees, Save the World
"

It only took one summer to destroy my whole life

"

That summer,

everything fell apart

That summer,

I was forced to grow up

That summer,

I learned that the people you love most

Hurt you the worst

That summer,

I learned that love has no value

 That summer,

I died inside

That summer,

promises were broken

That summer,

I lost my innocence

That summer,

it was me who picked up the pieces

That summer,

I learned to walk away

That summer,

made me who I am today

if this were my poem, i'd probably play around with formatting a bit. a poem isn't just the words, it's how you arrange them on the paper. maybe put everything on align left and hit enter after each "that summer." then indent what happened during "that summer." for example:

"that summer,
everything fell apart.
that summer,
i was forced to grow up."

etc. just a thought. the poem's fine as is, i'd just do something different. it's up to you.
anyway, i like the repetition of the words "that summer" and the last line: "That summer, made me who I am today." seems to sum it up, say that even though that summer was awful, it changed your life.
overall, good ink.
