Sleepless

Sleepless

A Poem by Megan Lynn

Another sleepless night
Please don't turn out my light
it's then the monsters come out to fight
it' then they come

I'm scared
(I try not to be)
In fear
(I try not to be)
I'm scared
(I try not to be)
In fear of sanity

These walls  might come down on me
And I'm afraid to try and be free

Another sleepless night
Please don't turn out my light
It's then the monsters come out to fight
It's then they come

Sleepless nights waiting for the light
Tired days, it's a price I'll have to pay
Didn't want to fight this world alone
I just wanted to find my way home

The monsters don't come to play
And this time they're here to stay
I turned out my light to hide
But they found me in my mind

I'm scared
(I try not to be)
In fear
(I try not to be)
I'm just scared of sanity

Such a mysterious write....Sleepless nights are tough to pass, they kill us in fear....I loved the imagination here....Very well thought out work and i found it very intriguing....Note: i think there is a printing mistake(typing mistake) of the word 'to' in the line "and this time they're here tom stay"....Full ratings.....

Another beautiful piece that I can hear on the radio one day. The darkness is the most terrifying part of the day, and it's hard to come to terms with everything we find out when we can't see. Creative and gripping. Well done.

Hi Megan,

I like the style of repeating several lines of this poem for emphasis. Perhaps you would like us to imagine what these monsters are symbolizing in this piece, but a little more of hint might make it a bit more intriguing than it already is. My favorite would have to be the "I'm scared (I try not to be)" that you repeat and makes the poem vary in rhythm. Good work!

Thought about giving this another read....Your best work to me.....The atmosphere is something very unsure here, frightening and mysterious....I enjoy reading this....Full ratings for the second time..... God bless you....

There is a sweet movie called Noctua, and it's about a child being scared of the dark, so he picked a star to give a little light when he is about to go to sleep. Then, the star mysterious disappears, so now he has to travel with the creatures of the night to find the star. They become friends. It's cute. Sorry, this poem just reminded me of it haha.
I thought the peom is beautifull written, but know that your feelings are all in your hands.
