Fire

Fire

A Poem by MeghanMillie

I fell in love with an earth bender
His skin was warm because lava flowed through his lively veins
But I was just a broken water bender
Just a little river in a vast forest
She who could only make a ripple in a small after storm puddle
I made waves the first time the lava touched my skin
He told me my tears are stars
Even though they are here now they could be gone tomorrow
And you wouldn't even notice
Keep your head up little river
Don't make me become the dam that holds back the raging thunder waves
The stone around him was not strong enough
What made the fire inside you my rock?
The best people hold fire inside them
Phoenix bowed to his deep boiling kind heart
Glass flowed from his mouth
So smooth and elegant
He was my roll call
Calling his name gave me one
Though I was too small to flow down the halls without him
When a storm hit his arms became cement walls
I suffocated to know if this was real
I shattered when I woke in a cave
Cold and soaked with salty pain
Little river
Little river you're dreaming

It is not often one reads work about Avatar that bring such movement to the heart. Like "Tales From Ba-Sing-Se" this too reverberates throughout the mind. A emotional masterpiece, yet unfurnished, and rightly so. Rough, yet rigid, as the rock should be.
