Reflection During Dusk

Reflection During Dusk

A Poem by La Belle Dame Sans Merci

He has permeated my skin,

entered through the pores

and now I smell of him;

wanting, craving, nothing more.

The world spins on its axis twice,

I am undone---

each step a tipsy dance

to the singular lisp of his chant.

So this is what it means to dissolve

in the solute of another's eyes.

This is what it's like to be

at last, fully occupied.

If I was granted one emotion last,

it would be this spark catalyzed

down to an ember spent,

left completely satisfied.

i absolutely love your poetry. it has a way of sinking into my head, through my body, and all around me until i can feel it. just the way you describe the emotion through simple word choice and rhythm, i love it! once again a beautiful poem! i love reading pieces by you because they are so completely thorough, even when they aren't long. wonderful!

I enjoyed this. The declaritive sentences/ or fragments seem to add potency, like "I am undone--" and "so this is what it means to dissolve..." I like the idea of the "man" or "love" being ethereal, something that can enter one's body, soul even. I think it's a very powerful visual.

Thank you.

Oh you write with quite grace ~ each thought completely original which simply rolls through your pen. "each step a tipsy dance to the singular lisp of his chant." Oh my. You've managed a rhyme so subtle, it might actually be missed if it did not add so sweetly to the gentle cadence of this entire beauty.

Well done!

Absolutely wonderful. There is an inner calm that belies all that is written. An underlying peace that permeates each phrase. Truly exceptional.

This is absolutely wonderful, structured, emotional, and imaginatively descriptive composition. (One lucky Guy - Id say)

An admirably professional piece of work!

Did I mention, I liked it a lot?
