Wet Smile

Wet Smile

A Poem by Mel Oliveira
"

A little piece about the things we keep inside

"
As I sat here, wasting away
Life outside rushed by
And I couldn't help it but pray
That one day, I could do more than just cry

Though now my eyes are dry and still
And my lips can fake a smile
My tears are flowing anew
Deep inside, where they've been for a while

Whilst my heart begs release
And my soul screams all my pain
My mask can only increase
To hide my tears, that are shed in vain

For my brain won the battle within
Against my broken-down heart
Now I cry underneath a grin
Split in half, two lives apart

I like the rhyme scheme here, it flows beautifully, something I have yet to master. Emotions like these are always difficult to slog through. This is a very eloquent poem, I enjoyed reading it very much =)

Wow. this is awesome. The rhymes came out well, without the message being all topsyturvy. Well done! [:
