Depression

Depression

A Poem by Luci
"

art - 'Witch' by Trixis

"
depression is a witch
she follows me around
holding my hand but
digging her nails into my palm
until i bleed
she tells me
'pain is comfort'
and i believe her

depression is a disease
but to me, she is a woman
with long grey hair and
sunken, soul-less eyes
her skin is pale
adorned with raggedy robes
filled with holes
lost her home
years before
found solace in the halls
of my heart
instead

depression is an uninvited guest
who refuses to leave
she painted the walls black
covered the windows with old newspaper
bearing headlines of
catastrophe
their words etch into my skin
weigh down my soul
slowly, she drags me
through the floor
removes me from my own body
but still, she comforts me

depression is the words:
'i know you better than anyone else'
until we have merged
until her fingers
pierce my bones
embedded as one
