Seas Of Misery

Seas Of Misery

A Poem by Undying Glory

Another write like 'Shattered", only now it's abuse within love and marriage. Inspired by "Face Down" by The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus. Enjoy!

Seas Of Misery
The cold wind blows through the night
As happiness disappears from sight
And she curls up next to a picture of you
But with tears in her eyes, and sadness so true
Say that you love her, say she's the one
As you held her so tight in the setting sun
She wipes her eyes, and feels her scars
All the times you pushed things just too far
And she prays for the prince that she once knew
The one who saves her whenever she's blue

Stranded upon the seas of misery
As she sails on forevermore
And the world stops as she searches endlessly
Trying to find a distant shore

Do you feel so brave?
Do you feel so strong?
When you hit her and punch her on and on
As she fingers the scars you left behind
Remembering the times before, so fine
Under the moonlight together, as you kissed her tight
And you loved her and said you would make things right
Her tears cascade down, and she's just so mad
Whatever did she do to be hurt so bad

Stranded upon the seas of misery
As she sails on forevermore
And the world stops as she searches endlessly
Trying to find a distant shore

She blows her candles out, all of them, but one
Knowing you never finished what you shouldn't have begun
And she clutches the photo of her and you
The one where you swore your love was so true
And she touches the corner to the hungry flame
Like how her heart smoldered on again and again
And she walks away, as the ashes fall
Don't cry or be sorry, she won't care at all
She's over you, and she's had enough
She's finally out to find her true love

a compelling stroll down the road of love twisted up inside of misery to at last find reclamation of self~ the imagery is captivating~

I love how the tone changes at the end of this piece , first broken then healed and walking away. Thumbs up. I'm a sucker to imagery too :)

Been there man, good job with putting so much in it. I cant say I liked when you say he hit her over and over, cant stand when guys hit girls! If I saw someone doing it I'd go right up the the guy and punch him in the head, then say how does it feel. I know thats not what you were getting at. Either way you did a really good job brotha keep writing your great at it;)

Beautiful. I liked this one. There were acouple of lines that seemed a little word-heavy, but all in all it flowed well and set a nice pace. It's sad and strong and real. Well done. Loved it.
