Waiting On A Train (Waking Up) (Inspired by the movie "Inception)

I see the face
So beautiful, who loved me so
And I'm scared to let her go
For everything I've done

I see the place
Like solace so far away
And I'm calling for them to stay
So I can make it home

So I'm gonna take this final chance
To finally set things right
And I won't ever give in or back down
No I won't give up the fight

And is this real or am I dreaming?
'Cause I can't tell truth from lies
Though I see the top perpetually spinning
And the world opens before my eyes

I'm waiting on a train
That'll take me anywhere
Is it you that I really see?
'Cause I can't feel the ground
I'm waking up again
Though I'm still here somewhere
Is this my reality?
But I hear a distant sound
And through dreams and reality I'm walking on
To somewhere I can call home

So now you know
About everything I tried to hide
All the secrets buried deep inside
Of my long-forbidden past

Watch the world unfold
Though I'm miles into the sky
And I'll do my best to try
Try to make this moment last

I'm waiting on a train
That'll take me anywhere
Is it you that I really see?
'Cause I can't feel the ground
I'm waking up again
Though I'm still here somewhere
Is this my reality?
But I hear a distant sound
And through dreams and reality I'm walking on
To somewhere I can call home

I look into your eyes, so wide and forlorn
And I'm so sorry for what I've done
But still I know, I need to let you go
'Cause you're one of the things time's left behind

Through fire, ice, lightning and the rain
Yet I know none of those will heal my pain
But still I know, I gotta let you go
'Cause you're just a memory in my mind

I'm waiting on a train
That'll take me anywhere
Is it you that I really see?
'Cause I can't feel the ground
I'm waking up again
Though I'm still here somewhere
Is this my reality?
But I hear a distant sound
And through dreams and reality I'm walking on
To somewhere I can call home

CODA
Now I've reached my destination
As the plane lands finally
A new life, new aspirations
All opened up to me
And I know I've finally made it
Is this fake or is this true
But still, that doesn't change it
Change that I'm home with you

This song is written from Dominic "Dom" Cobb's perspective.
First stanza: refers to the image of Cobb's wife, Mal, who is haunting his mind
Second stanza: refers to Cobb's children. Cobb sees them in his mind often as well, but every time he tries to call out to them, they hear Mal's voice and move in that direction...
Third stanza: Saito, a Japanese businessman, offers Cobb an opportunity to clear his name by implanting a thought (hence the title) in the mind of his rival to break up his father's empire...
Fourth stanza: The "top perpetually spinning" is how Cobb tells the real world from dreams. Only in the dream world does the top spin perpetually...
Chorus: The first two lines are paraphrased from the movie. Cobb often says, as well as his wife, just before they die in dreams and wake up, "You're waiting for a train. It'll take you anywhere...but you can't be sure..."
Sixth stanza: One of Cobb's team members, Ariadne, enters Cobb's dreams and discovers the truth about him. ("You" refers to her)
Seventh stanza: "Though I'm miles into the sky": Cobb and his team conduct the operation on a long-distance flight
Ninth and tenth stanzas: Cobb actually knew inception could be done because he did it to Mal, hence the "I'm so sorry" part. Mal makes him choose whether to go back to the real world or stay with her, but he chooses the real world. And as for the "fire, ice, lightning and the rain" part, anyone who watched this flick knows how epic those were...
Coda: In the end, Cobb wakes up on the plane, and Saito makes a call, that effectively cancels the charges pressed against Cobb. He finally reunites with his children, the "you" referring to them. He spins his top, and though it wobbles, it remains upright, so we don't know if he's still dreaming or not...
Darn, I feel like I ruined the surprise. lolol

I think this is beautiful. I have yet to see the movie, but your song combined with a friend's recommendation certainly makes me want to see it that much more. The movie aside, your song is a stand alone beautiful piece of art. It reads very smooth and moves through the senses as a river through the wood.
