Endless Fall

Endless Fall

A Poem by Lorelei Middlesex
"

I crave for you and your endless fall.

"

I.

Like dreams
you can't
step out of,
you're
drowning
in the sea
where the eternal three
swim.

My bones
are like fire.
Marrows shrivel
and that feeling
-like dying;
like crying-tears
away
at my betweenness.
That lovely sculpt:
your valleys,
hills,
occupy;
my soul

takes flight

to the fire in the sky.

II.

I was foolish;
I should have helped you

begin
past
seeing

the dark
that spread
an ultimate
sea of shadows.

Lay your head
on a star,
let it whisper
the echoes of the universe.

I hate you,
but like a bracelet
with an open clasp,
I wrap myself around you.

Eyes bubble
on the yellow of my skin.

We were made
with lightning.

III.

Last,
helpless,
you think
I can't find you.

I'm not seeing,
or looking, but

believing
too much
that the winds will change
and take you.

All the secrets
of the universe
speculate
that animal
inside my heart.

Too close,
snapping
golden coil,
like a noose
around your neck.

My last glimpse,
you were so beautiful

with eyes
tunneling death,

neck
branching out
like ancient
roots,

spine
mangled
-twisted-
intricate orchid.

Last wave,
you become
another world.

Just another.

Author's Note

Lorelei Middlesex
I love you, and yet I hate you. All that occupies my mind is worrying about your death, and craving it at the same time. Your endless fall. The universe finally heard my plea, and took you from me.
