the passion

the passion

A Poem by michelle bailey
"

poem to show jesus's love for us all and his resurrection

"
As they sat and shared the bread and wine
The betrayer of Jesus did sit with Him and dine
This supper with Jesus would be their last
For the hour of His suffering was soon coming to pass
For God so loved the world, He gave His only son
The pain and the agony He was to face had nearly come
One who walked with Jesus, his action would be this
To betray the Son of God with an arresting kiss
Stood before Pilate, He neither answered nor did He nod
The charge against Him, for being the Son of God
As they found Him guilty, they demanded that He die
Our Saviour took the sentence, He did it for you and I
With every step He took, to await a criminals fate
As innocent as He was, He continued for his love for us was great
The blood running down His face was as crimson red
The scars fresh that He bore from the thorns in His head
With every one of His 39 stripes have we been healed
As blood and water poured from His side, His glory was revealed
Through all the ridicule, mock and shame He bore it all
He carried His cross and our sins to forgive man's fall
As they bore nails into Him, He said Father, them please forgive
And to a criminal on his side, he said 'you shall with me in paradise live'
About the ninth hour, the veil in the temple was rent in two
With a final breath Jesus said 'Father my spirit I give it to you'
Judged for a crime He did not commit, He counted the cost
With a triumphant resurrection, Jesus redeemed all the lost
