Angel of Dreams

got the inspiration from my seriously funky dream last night!! it was about teachers and fire...cant member the details

Hair aflame a violet hue,

with hopes a'drifting to come true.

Hands of pearl

and wings of stars.

She sees your desires

no matter how far.

Whether strange or normal

or in between

about the future

or just a dream;

of random things,

like shells and bombs

she carries them all

in a satchel of songs.

 

She sprinkles them all above our heads,

when we are all safely nestled in our beds.

 

We may not be able to understand all of our dreams,

but that doesnt mean she doesnt.

........I'm trying to find a good word to express my experience of this besides the clichéd "wow", but words have apparently escaped me. This - this is wonderful. If you're open to a small critique: from "whether strange......." to "or just a dream" would be better off with some elongation, as the musicality is a bit choppy there. You have splendid, even remarkable sound work and repetition of sounds throughout the poem, so you could do the same here: "whether strange or whether normal/or whether in between", and then add a couple of syllables to the other two lines, which would then fix the musicality. It's the only aspect that had taken me out of the magic of this brilliantly crafted piece. Everything else is absolutely superb, right down to even the prosaic coda (for really the poem ended with the italics, and the bit of prose just seems too much, BUT you pull it off nicely). Well freaking done! Much enjoyed!
