Insanity

This was a journey poem from poetry class.

Blackness, darkness

I can’t escape it.

Am I running in circles

around myself?

Trying to find the light.

Is it the light of life

or the light of death?

Either one will do.

Please keep me from going insane.

Crash!

Something is in my way

Then. . .

It disappears.

Like the cold breathe in the morning

When your fingers are numb,

and it vanishes in thin air.

Running, panting.

Lost in life it seems,

somewhere in this world.

Searching for my own sanity.

Left, right

I’m not sure which way is which.

Then. . .

There it is.

A light, a world of who knows what.

The wind from my running

as sweat comes dripping off.

It seems endless that journey.

The light burns my eyes

at last…

My world is fixed

People are surrounding me

someone grabs my hand, and I feel the coolness calm my body.

It startles me.

I awake from a dream

To the bright lights all around me.

my heads throbbing with pain.

Realization occurs, I’m back in reality.
