Medicine To The Soul

Medicine To The Soul

A Poem by m.n.i.w

It's like medicine for the soul.
Music once sung to restore faith.
Like gospels being propelled high to the ears of the Lord.
Among the dark skies looked upon for hope to be restored.
Once a source of mental freedom for a short moment of time.
Enslaved by the world's cruelty
and a reality far too sublime.

The tears shed by eyes of sorrow and pain.
Pouring like waterfalls to their great disdain.
Mercy upon thy soul who's undeserved.
Degraded by complexion to those with vision blurred.
Melodies and lyrics sung high to reach beyond the clouds to the stars.
A destiny desired to be reached,
but a destiny too far.
Scarred by inhumanity in unjust ways.
Systematically plagued throughout history
and in the presence of today.

Can I sing to the heavens with a wretched voice?
Until angels lay by my bedside.
Loud enough until I can hear the demon's calls no more.

Can I sing to you Lord and
you will bless me with your grace?
Will that pour rain down from the clouds
and wash the many sins from this base.
They cease to fade.
The tones that were once in rhythm are no longer played.
Calls to faithful sunny skies have been casted to shade.
Prayers gone unanswered,
still living in the shadows.

The before drowned out callings are now heard loud and clear.
And the heavenly gospels I no longer hear.
Music of evils portrayed in evil ways.
Hope lost, faith gone astray.
Send an angel to sing to me
and bring back the light of my day.
