exotica

exotica

A Poem by aspen

citrus queen of the summer
cloudberry eyes beaming through fields of morning fog
starlight twinkles beneath each step I take
the earth bursts into vibrant colors as soon as she catches me in her peripheral view
flowers blossom around my figure as i lay in a desolate meadow that is now overflowing with butterflies
mother nature whispers into the sunrise that if i burned any brighter, i would take the sun's place
my soul gazed at my body and extinguished the flames
they both sighed in relief,
embracing each other for the first time since i was placed into the solar system
I've been waiting my entire life for the peace to reign over me

I love this -- it reminds me of many sensual/sensory adventures in the wilderness, soaking up the seductive vibes of the outdoors. I love your disjointed statements of vivid imagery that feel like a careless stroll thru ecstasy. My only bump was the couplet just before the last line -- whereas everything else is written in first person ("I"), this couplet is written in third person ("they") and I could not find the reason for this. It feels like you've introduced new characters into this story without tying it together with the original couple frolicking in joy (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

This whole poem left me feeling peaceful. It's just written with such delicacy but in a way that brings forward such a powerful image, so clever! Also the images that you arouse in the imagination are so beautiful and at the same time, inspiring! To me, I see a powerful and independent woman finding her place among the beauty of the world while adding beauty to the world herself. I may be wrong but I think it is an excellent piece of writing so good job!

Beautiful and amazing use of words and thoughts. I liked how you used nature and the stars in the poetry. Nice flow of thoughts led to good ending. Thank you Allison for sharing the excellent poetry.

Wow, this is so passionate, and a sweet hymn of praise to this girl/woman! I just love your crisp diction and the way the descriptions are painted..

so many original lines that I loved: "citrus queen of the summer" conjured up a wonder if she was sour or just juicy and bursting with brightness and light...

"cloudberry eyes" made me think of reflective blue eyes that also have a warmth and sweetness liken to a succulent berry worth bursting with your front teeth...

"starlight twinkles" made me instantly think of shimmering sand, scintillating under the sun's rays, prisms of refractive light bouncing everywhere... but it also made me smile thinking of Disney's intro with all the fireworks.. or Tinkerbell's magic pixie dust...

this one is full of refreshing and satisfied sighs.

A lovely piece, I enjoyed reading this! Great writing!!
