Asleep

Asleep

A Poem by Chuck

You always wait until I am safely unconcious

         to wake me up,

then tell me its time to take me back

         to my own bed.

By then you've ripped down every facade

and given me the security I crave

to finally have a dreamless sleep.

How can you tell me every night

        to go back to sleep

and expect it to happen without you?

Because I promise, it never does without a fight..

Of course I will fall asleep eventually,

but then I'm waking up without You.
