That Kiss

That Kiss

A Poem by Monday Parker

I think about this one kiss

In the crowded space of your

Mother’s duplex

The hardwood floors sprinkled with dust

You kissed me there

As I was turning for the door

Still, today I can feel

The trembles of butterflies

Quivering across my

Unsuspecting stomach

A sweet emotion filled kiss

I recall walking away in a daze

Willing my legs to carry me

The short distance to my car

I can still see the look in your blue eyes

I remember your lips

And that day

That…was a good kiss.
