Predator

Predator

A Poem by Monday Parker

I made a mistake

I let the passion and fire take hold

Walking me right over that invisible threshold

Of wrong and right.

My sights set directly on my desire

My longing lust

I sought after him

Week by week

A wounded animal in a predator’s path

I saw his lust for me as a

Lame leg on a gazelle

I drew in day by day

Stalking my prey

Then on a day of his weakness

I pounced

Devoured

And left him

In a helpless pile at the tips of my claws

But- now when the sun rises

Bright from the east

I see my predicament

My fight

My adventure

Lay as a carcass at my blooded feet

And the days conquest

Has already been beat.
