GrammyA Poem by Rita MacGumeraitGrammy Do you see the smiles I
bring? Can you hear the words I
speak? While the silence leads
us all into the dark, damp night. The assurance of your
voice, drowned by all the machines, the marker in your hand
is just too hard to write with. But you assure me with
your silent voice, Something I can’t even
understand, But the look in your
eyes tells me everything: the pain, the hurt, the
tears. How hard it is for you
to stay here with me. I smile as I walk out, leaving you behind, saying I’ll see you
later, not aware it was
good-bye. I have a Dream for all
you grandkids that they all love their
Grandmas dear. I have a Dream for you
too, Grammy, That you are happy and
loved dear, so that on the day that
seems so far away, you’ll be much healthier
than you are here. You’ll dance around and
never fall And we’ll laugh and talk
all day. © 2010 Rita MacGumeraitAuthor's Note
