Rough Seas

by: moonlit cove

Their quest seems never ending

Infinite sea in all directions

The crewmembers are tending

Their posts and praying for protection

The gusty wind, it howls

The rain is pounding on the deck

The ship creaks from its bowels

Straining to keep this dangerous trek

And just when hope is almost lost

The vessel jolts and runs aground

The wooden boat no longer tossed

Rests motionless upon this mound

The startled crew begin to shout

“There is no land for many miles!”

“How could this have come about?”

“We’re days away from any isles!”

“This can’t be right,” says one fellow

When the boat sways side to side

There’s movement from the ground below

And all the crewmen slip and slide

And in the panic and grabbing of rails

The craft keeps rising higher

And then appears a massive tail

And a head with eyes of fire

And on the back of this great beast

The tiny ship does rise

The massive creature is at least

Quite docile for its size

With scaly wings the beast takes flight

The storm it is no match

The frightened sailors all hold tight

They’ve battened down the hatch

The journey ends the following day

With ship and crew safe on dry land

And as the sea beast flies away

He waves to his new sailor friends

Woah, this is an interesting little story! You've rhymed it out really well. Great to see that the 'beast' turned out to be quite friendly. I really enjoyed reading this. Great write!

Most welcome!
What a creative little topic to write about.
I love these there poems/storys. A poem but its like a story. I have wrote a few of these they are fun to write.
What a creative and cleaver idea for a story.
This story makes the reader enjoy the poem and they want to know what is going to happen next.
Just when the sailors thought they where doomed this dragon like creature saves them, how beautiful.
This story tells us no matter how bad the storm, how rough the seas, sometimes there is hope.
Well written indeed.
