Tarnished

Tarnished

A Poem by Michelle Lea

lyrics

"

And he doesn't even see the things that he does to me~~~

that leave me tarnished.

Barely getting by a day

without the words of hate~~~

that leave me tarnished.

Not one day goes by that

I don't have to tell a lie~~~

I look in the mirror each day

as I slowly fade away~~~

once again I've been left tarnished.

And he doesn't even see the things that he does to me~~~

that leave me tarnished.

Looking through the window

as I'm driving down the road,

I sometimes wish I could just keep

going to a place no-one knows~~~

I try and try to make a change,

but things seem to stay the same.

And he doesn't even see the things that he does to me~~~

that leave me tarnished.

Like rusty faded old silverware,

I'm living a life full of despair~~~

If only God could take ahold of my soul,

take it to a place where beautiful flowers grow~~~

Then I'd know~~~

I'd just know~~~

that there's hope of my soul

no longer being tarnished.

Wipe away the tarnish with a cloth,

let the beautiful silverware shine~~~

just like God did with my soul when He took the time.

Now he doesn't see things that he can do to me anymore~~~

that leave me tarnished.
