Mama

Mama

A Poem by Diane

I close my eyes and say a prayer.
Praying hard that you are still there.
My heart has been heavy since you left.

The pain is still raw after years have passed.
I feel your presence watching over me.
I smell your scent when you are protecting me.

Nothing has been the same since you left.
You were my always and everything and that's that.
I miss you so much I could almost crack.

I can't crack, I have to be strong,
Hold my head up and pretend nothings wrong.
I still have little people who depend on me.
I wouldn't want to disappoint my mama who taught me.

I pray and pray when it is my time
that you will come collect me and the soul that is mine.
Meet me on the other side before the pearly white gates.
Hold my hand but not cause of fear.
I just want to feel the love that you radiate.

This is such a sweet poem. It reminded me of my friend who's mother passed away when she was rather young. I look at her and I say to myself, I can only imagine how hard things must be for her. Moms are truly god's greatest gift. Thanks for sharing this.

That is correct. Now that my mother is gone, I can not stand when people disrespect their mother.

A fine tribute to a mother. No matter how many years will pass, their absence will always be felt. As you have said we have to be strong, for the others who depend on us and also to make our mothers proud, for this is how they would want us to be.

Thank you very much.
Emotions like these are the hardest to pen, so many emotions swirl around. This is very lovely, your message is clear and elegant.

Thank you so much for your review.
Such a beautiful prayer. I loved the way you expressed your feelings throughout the poem. But, I feel really sad about your pain. Wishing you lots of blessings and bright sunshine. "I can't crack, I have to be strong, Hold my head up and pretend nothings wrong. I still have little people who depend on me.
I wouldn't want to disappoint my mama who taught me." Those words are inspiring for me thanks for sharing them :)

Welcome and you're absolutely right my friend.
I love the sentiment I felt through this poem. I loved my mother and lost her just before my last child was born. I love the yearning and the request of reuniting at the end. Thank you for sharing.
