No Floods

No Floods

A Poem by Marc Mccune
"

Chasing a writing muse that is sonetime not easy to find

"
No floods today
haven't been any for a while
no streams

easy against the difficult
caught in a cliche
rock and hard place
the easy...do nothing
the hard...persevere

the things of others...easy?
my own, the difficult

even these very words
like mining
like panning
picking up
then tossing
not finding many to keep

and then,
many will see
the veneer
only touch the top
never the buried bulk
of what is inside
me

Love the feel of this as the protagonist seems resigned to a period where inspiration is lacking. Nicely described and the sentiment feels genuine.
