poetic revelation

poetic revelation

A Poem by MI-KOL HIGHLY

poetic revelation

full pages and wasted ink

looking for inspiration in vain

a lot jotted but utterly meaningless

not a single idea that can refresh the mind

penmanship seemingly just a mystery

and there i thought poetry was the art of my mastery

conduct a penetrating examination of my motives

question me why i ever wrote

conviction of the poet

find me guilty for ever claiming that title

for at the touch of love i surely became a poet

and at the loss of it the passion varnished

what a supremely delightful revelation

its acceptance an extremely pleasant emotion

such a beautiful dagger deep in my heart

but at least this pen can now come to rest with ease

Author's Note

MI-KOL HIGHLY
So i find myself looking at a paper - thinking of something to write about but nothing comes to mind . I start feeling less of a poet - and so i decide to blame it all on why i ever wrote poetry and that becomes the inspiration of my new piece.

I think all writers go through periods of self-doubt, for various reasons. Call it writer's block, or just lack of inspiration. But the muse usually returns, given time. I can relate to this. Thanks for sharing. ~ Robert.
