The Monkey Ate My Medulla Oblongata

The Monkey Ate My Medulla Oblongata

A Poem by Lovesleftovers
"

My submission for the "alot of nonsense" contest. I know it's grotesque and creepy, but, hey, that's the point, right?

"

“The Monkey Ate My Medulla Oblongata”

Rat-a-tat-tat, splatter-splat-splat
Someone’s dancing in the rain
Feed the restless monkey
He’s gnawing on my brain

The West Nile bird strokes his feathers
So swiftly I catch fire
The mere cat’s thinking “barbeque”
He’s already built the pyre

My medulla oblongata’s gone now
Grey matter’s all that’s left
Not enough to feed on
The worms will be bereft

The giggling gets louder and still louder
Hyenas in the mist
But when they come to feed off me
They’re gonna be quite pissed

Vultures swoop down to save me
At least I think that’s true
They pick me up, they drop me off
And bid me bye, adieu

Ooh. Is it hinting at something deeper? A problem that we don't know? I like how it's open ended.
