My Feline Friend

My Feline Friend wakes up by my side

He purrs me "good morning " as I open my eyes

He kisses me with his soft, wet nose

But soon returns to his slumbering doze.

I get up and begin to start my day

He opens one eye that seems to plead for me to stay

I smile and give him a soft pat on his head

Turning to my school, I begin what I dread

My Feline Friend rises and stretches, clearly displeased with my decision

He cockes his head and meows, as if telling of a vision

I turn my attention to him once more

And before I know it, he is no longer on the floor

Now completely comfortable on my lap

He turns to me and gives me a tap

Just a little bump on the face

As if to say, you are in my good grace

I eat my lunch and return to my school

I coo to my cat but he looks at me like I am a fool

I am soon drenched in my reports, essays and tests

But My Feline Friends always gets my best

I finally finish with all my tasks

I turn my attention to my cat and ask

"have you time to play"

He meows a response as if to say "I may"

We spend the next hour bonding over treats and toy strings

But My Feline Friend will never truly understand my feelings

For, you see, when in the time of fun and play

I begin to think of that day

For that day will come when this all shall be no more

When My Feline Friend has gone on through the door

I shall miss him utterly and my life shall never be the same

But I will look back to his moment and remember our fun and game

So let me urge you all

To treasure this time you have with your little furry ball

For the love you bestow upon them

Shall affect YOU the greatest at the end

Really wanted to express my love of my cat and also the pain of losing one, which I have gone through numerous times. This is dedicated to all you cat-loves out there, your cats and my baby Bleu!

I like the rhythm you have here, it reminds me of my cat I use to own. I miss having her around so it is important to treasure the times you have with them because it doesn't last forever. This makes me look forward to bonding with a new kitty cat ^^

Aww such a lovely poem and you have a delightful cat, I used to have a cat like that, but he died of old age. My cat now is a grumpy sour puss lol but he is still lovable.
