How Can It Be?

How Can It Be?

A Poem by Kimberly Miller
"

An in depth look at God's unending and unimaginable love for me.

"
How can it be
That He could love me
Can He really love a wretched girl
Who holds no candle to a pearl

How can it be
He so willingly forgives me
I am like a wandering soul
Sometimes no more responsive than a lump of coal

How can it be
That He wants to care and protect me
I am nothing but His servant,
Yet He guards and keeps like I can't

How can it be
That He desires my company
When I ignore His soft calls and pleas
And rather worry about this and that needs

How can it be
How does He have, that patience for me
He waits for me to wonder back into His fold
And let's me run into His loving, tender hold

How can it be
That He died for me
He left his perfect palace to die on a tree
For a sinful, imperfect, person like me

How can it be
He feels the hurts and worries that touch me
The things no one else could know or understand
I know that my Father can

How can this all be
Is it true, even real, for me
Can this Creator, this Lord, this God, this Emmanuel,
Would He stoop so low as to where I have fell

I may not know why, this side of heaven
He shines His blessings down on me
Or why He forgives seventy times seven
But I suppose that little bit is this faith part of me

Because I do not know why
I chose to have faith and live accordingly
That He loves me and did die
So I will not have to pay the greatest fee
