THE PUBLIC DATE

THE PUBLIC DATE

A Poem by nams
"

This is a poem written after the first function called ROKA in an Indian wedding. It tries to show what goes on inside the heart & mind of to be bride and to be groom.

"

He came out with a smiling face,

she stood there full of grace,

he in grey, she in blue,

what would happen next, none of them had any clue.

Though they both looked very confident outside,

there were many feelings in their heart that they had to hide,

    excitement and fear mixed together,

the chilly wind in the cold weather,

the confused thoughts of what would happen next,

yet they were calm and stayed at the behaviour that was best.

They walked inside, she meeting his family, he meeting hers,

sticking to her was her little sister clutching the purse.

though they knew each each other they could not talk much,

everyone around had their eyes on them the atmosphere was such.

with the permanent smile on their face, they were introduced to everyone,

granpa, granma, uncles, aunts, their daughters and sons.

The photgraphy session began and went on till late,

it seemed as if they were on a "Public date".

they had their dinner along with that broad smile,

may be it would have been easier to work on some office file,

as the function came to an end, they had just one thought in mind,

"If you could let us sleep in our beds, it would be so kind."
