A Monkey's Heart

A Monkey's Heart

A Story by Jiya

We say that every person is born free. He/she has the right to ask, right to love, right to education and right to live. But the reality is that we all were born and continue living trapped in a humongous sphere. I’m sometimes flabbergasted by the possessive attitude of the people. They fight for spaces on the surface of the Earth. What they don’t know is that the Earth itself is lost in the vast infinity of the universe. We all perhaps remember being snuffled by our parents when we asked too many questions. Curiosity is what brought us from the jungles to the dining table. Einstein didn’t dream of writing the theory of relativity one fine day nor the homo sapiens thought of covering themselves on a particular day. We all are taught to stay in our limits and then they inspire us with the proverb “the sky isn’t the limit.” We all must be familiar with the monkey God ‘Hanuman’, the God who had leaped to the universe to eat the Sun to snub his hunger. He didn’t know that the Sun wasn’t a ripe fruit and he didn’t hesitate to venture outside his limits and the result was he becoming invincible. What we require today is a monkey’s heart, the curiosity, the notoriety to venture across the limits.
