Insomnia

Insomnia

A Poem by Nandini Ghosh Dastidar
"

It's about a 12 year old girl who's an insomniac. She used to stay awake at night and observe things around her. At the same time, she was so fascinated by crime that she started writing poems.

"
Twilight. I'm still awake.
Listening to the songs through my headphones.
The air conditioner is blaring and the fan at it's full speed,
The lights all switched off and the comforter hugging me.
My brain is tired but is not tired,
I don't know why I'm having insomnia.
Maybe the appreciation from today's audience was keeping me awake,
Or the person sleeping beside me was sleeping his last sleep.

Author's Note

Nandini Ghosh Dastidar
Crime and death are sometimes somewhat ununderstandable or unexplainable. I used to think that before that what I'm writing does not have any meaning but it actually does, if you understand what I want to say.
