Rain

Rain

A Poem by Nancy Lee Shrader

Rain

Rain preludes in soft droplets

Sprinkling its delicate song

Harmonizing together

Pianissimo in rhyming tone

Puddles ripple in the breeze

A musical pitter patter

Each dancing with ease

Increasing its tempo

Crescendos, becoming a torrent

Flooding to overflow

Thunder cracking in drum cadence solo

Lightning flashing to the beat

Dancing wildly, out of control

Colliding with electrical heat

Waning decline

Tempo engaging in soft melody

Dancing a dream in the mind

Musical whispers

Bathing flowers with song

Humming gently

All the night long

Many personalities within the rain

Each sings a musically different song

One playful, one fearful and lastly calm

Sings to the emotions, both young and old

Listen to rain’s as rain plays its musical score

Hear all the different tempos

For your mind to explore

~

Each

((Single))

(((Raindrop)))

Music is in the air

Drifting on the breeze

Capturing each moment

In grand harmonious detail

As … each tiny raindrop falls

Crying … like teardrops at times

Cries for lost loves echoing sublime

Hear each raindrop … musical poem

Whimsically play in pitter patter youth

Teenage revolting in a high pitched cord

Growing to adulthood a gentler stream

Hear melodies of love if you please

Heartaches are heard in the rain

And the elderly finds peace

Joys aren’t found unless

A little rain falls

… Down …

~~~
I love the references to music (pianissimo, crescendo, harmonizing, musical whispers...)
They really make the imagery lovely
Nancy this is spectacular! I loved the originality. The rhyme was wonderful as well.
"Flooding to overflow
Thunder cracking in drum cadence solo"
Loved this. Very nicely done!
wow, I am amazed at the picture this paints in my soul. I could almost see the lightning and wind and rain all dancing to an eternal melody. I love the metaphors of peoples lives in the raindrop. This is a very well thought out and touching piece :)
Very original! I really liked your comparisons to music - you really stretched the metaphor to its full extent. Honestly I thought that the "growing up" idea was a little weaker than your musical one, but I think you just took more time to devleop the first than the second. I also really like the way you formatted this - putting the last stanza in the form of a raindrop is very visually appealing and reflects the subject matter wonderfully. Good job!
