A poem read of footprints
Deepened in the sand
Told of a brand new creature
Being carried across this land
A heavy weight He carried
Lifting my bruised and bloody feet
Into His healing arms
And my healing was complete
He didn’t have to lift my burden
For it was mine to bear
He didn’t have to soften my way
His love He didn’t have to share
Still He lifted me into His arms
And carried me with ease
He soothed my furrowed brow
And my fear He did appease
The many steps He carried me
Down this pathway I call my life
Too weak to stand
He soothed away the strife
Now I look behind me
As I stand on heaven’s shore
Those deepened footprints
Is from an opened door
He knocked so many times
But I didn’t heed the call
Until my life turned into turmoil
And then I surrendered all
I thank God that Jesus waited
For me to unlock the door
Instead of seeing footprints
My feet would be cut and sore
Now I kneel before the throne
I praise Jesus and rejoice
And in thanksgiving I lift up my voice
My voice is joined together
With the angelic choir
My eternity secure
I’ve completed my last hour
If you look behind and only see one set
Of footprints in the sand
Know that you’re being carried
Towards the Promise land
