Honest Abe

Honest Abe

A Poem by Nancy Lee Shrader

Honest Abe

I was cut down in
My prime, but the
Things that I said
And the thing I stood for, live
In your hearts even to this day
I saw injustice
Everywhere I
Looked and
That is why
I stood my
~~~~~~~~~ground~~~~~~~~~
Four score and seven years
Ago … our fathers brought
Forth upon this continent
A new nation conceived
In liberty and dedicated
To the proposition that
All men … are created
>>>>>>Equal<<<<<<
Equal … Equal … Equal
Became my battle cry
A nation for the people
By the people, all people
Of every race and creed
Stand Proud
Stand Proud
Stand Proud
Stand Proud
Stand Proud
Stand Proud
Stand Proud
Stand Proud
Stand Proud
Americans Americans
Christians Everywhere
