Flame of Salvation

Flame of Salvation

A Poem by Nancy Lee Shrader

Flame of Salvation

I’m walking close to the flame

In darkness and in shadows

Reaching for the light

Beyond this never ending night

Beckoning me closer to the glow

It seems to light up the sky

This flame is called love

Sent down from above

I feel the heat just outside my reach

I see a hand reaching down

The warmth holds me fast

We lock hands at last

Echoing through heaven

My voice was heard

Forgiveness, I cried

I’m no longer outside

Now I walk in the light

Engulfed in His flame

With my resounding voice

I praise and rejoice

Yes I walked close to the flame

Stumbling through the shadows

But His flame burned bright

On His Cross of Light
