Wolves

Wolves

A Poem by Nancy Lee Shrader

Two Wolves Photo Monty Sloan

Meet the Kids

Wolf pups emerge from the den

Romping without a single care

Romping and playing

Without a single care

One lone female

Watches the brood

While the rest of the pack

Are out hunting for food

Wolves run silently in the night

Nostrils flair breathing in the scent

Their prey now chosen

Soon to torment

Yellow eyes glow

Low growl is heard

Forest now silent

Not one creature stirred

Forest engulfed in darkness

Though his nocturnal eyes see

Small creatures cower in fear

Of this nocturnal banshee

Alpha pair on the prowl

Leading the pack

Comes in for the kill

A carnage attack

They drag their conquest

Back to the den

Wolf pups taste first blood

Full circle once again

Wolf Pup Pack dining on Deer

This is another sweet poem for children. It is very difficult fo write for children, you do it with ease. Beautiful.

Vivid and captures the life of a wolf very well. Educational as well.
