Swan Princess

Swan Princess

A Poem by Nancy Lee Shrader

Swan Princess

Fairy godmother sprinkles sparkling dust

Swan princess spreads her wings

She’s traded places until the night

Water splashing as she sings

Reaching for the water’s edge

Girl takes her place within the flock

Allowing dreams to be relived

Midnight strikes the ticking clock

Sun shines through the forest green

Announcing this magical sight

As swan and girl transpose their lives

If only until the dark of night

Swan’s heart beats wild inside her chest

Girl feels the coolness of the stream

One will dance on lily white feet

The other lost inside this magical dream

This is a beautiful Nursery Rhyme the words just seemingly flowing together.

I like how the water is coming to life in the picture making it all the more realistic.

What happens in the daytime, does she become a child again?
