It’s my wedding day
Beautiful dress and long veil
Flowing behind me
I take my brides walk
But the carpet is unrolled
I must climb over
Not so gracefully
I’m finally over the top
What else could happen?
Who gives this woman?
My uncle spoke up loudly
Her mother and I
Then I felt the bong
Uncle’s foot caught in my veil
And ripped off my head
Veil lay on the floor
My Maid of Honor came through
She replaced my veil
Nervous tears falling
Finally our vows were spoken
We both said I do
You may kiss the bride
The preacher said with a smile
It’s finally over
He tilted my head
Veil fell again upon the floor
In a heap of lace
On my head again
We took the bride and groom walk
Down the aisle we strolled
I held tight my veil
Husband carried my bouquet
A smile on his face
It’s been forty years
Since my wedding bell bonging
Day I can’t forget
Preacher moved away
Returned after many years
And he remembered
When he shook my hand
He had a smile on his face
And whispered these words
Of all the weddings
I’ve performed throughout my life
Yours was the most fun
Wedding bells may bong
But sometimes they make you smile
Fondly remembered
We now laugh and smile
As we tell our grandchildren
Our wedding bonging
My fond memory
Was once a catastrophe
