Haiku Once Upon a Time

Haiku Once Upon a Time

A Poem by Nancy Lee Shrader

Haiku Once Upon A Time

Once upon a time

In a land far and away

No named kitten lived

In the misting wood

Kitten saw the little girl

Swinging on a swing

She was far away

In the world where humans live

Cats were not allowed

Cat wished on a star

On one dark and starry night

He wanted a name

A portal opened

Between human and cat land

And kitten walked through

The girl was now close

Cat came closer and closer

To his heart’s desire

Girl now spied the cat

Oh Mommy, Mommy come see

Look what I have found

Mommy said. Don’t touch!

Cats don’t come into our world

Cats don’t belong here

Mommy he’s so cute

He has the cutest voice

Kitten said meow

He doesn’t have a name

I will give him a new name

Then he will be mine

Kitten dance around

I will have a special name

I will talk to her

Your name is Sprinkles

You will be my special friend

My name is Lyndsey

Sprinkles spoke her name

Mommy was really surprised

A magic kitten

Lyndsey and Sprinkles

Will be friends forevermore

Love lives in their hearts
