Haiku Chloe and AnubisA Poem by Nancy Lee Shrader
Chloe and Anubis Chloe won my heart She was such a tiny pub Now she’s very big Doberman’s grow fast Fifty pounds at six months old Takes up half the bed Doberman’s are smart She learned shake and does high-five Heel, sit, stay and down She sure likes her treats And many squeaky toys Hoards them like a child She’s almost human Knows when I’m happy or sad Eyes show emotion Anubis the cat Sometimes thinks he is a dog We call him cat-dog He plays fetch at times Then lays on his back and purrs Does tricks for treats Sleeps on my pillow Growls at the slightest noise In the dark of night You can pat him hard Just like you would pat a dog And he sure likes it Cat or dog, he’s mine A friend and a companion One day he will bark © 2009 Nancy Lee Shrader |
