Haiku I Cry

Haiku I Cry

A Poem by Nancy Lee Shrader

Haiku I Cry

I cry for children

In faraway lands at war

A childhood that’s lost

Childhood of fear seen

Hollow eyes older than years

Seen atrocities

They cry for our help

Too many here look away

Not wanting to see

My eyes fill with tears

When faces flash on the screen

Young eyes filled with rage

Days of childish play

Should be in their daily lives

No horrors of war

That is a very scary picture. The poem went well with it. I hate that thisis become the norm. People no longer care about the welfare of children. Those poor children are taught to hate and not love. You are a wonderful writer to bring this issue to the forefront. Excellent piece.
