A Poem by Nancy Lee Shrader

Photobucket

By Many Campfires

Quiet of a prairie night

Horse paws the hardened ground

Cowboy’s heart beats in time

Alone on the cold cold ground

By many campfires he sits

Underneath the stars

Cowboy dreams of rodeos

And winning silver stars

He feels the bucking of the saddle

In the stillness of the night

Dreams of fireworks flashing

Lighting up the night

Staring up at a yellow moon

In the star-filled sky

Clouded by the risen dust

Dream win captured in the sky

Another night upon the trail

Campfires burning bright

Reminds him of all the dreams

He won silver stars so bright

Dreams they come and go

Throughout the darkened night

Leaving smiles upon his face

Of a glitz and glamour night

So dream on cowboy, dream

Sometimes dreams come true

Silver stars are in the future

For this cowboy heart so true

Very cool poem. Great imagery of what a cowboy sees and dreams of. An excellent write.

Nicely done. Fits well and describes wonderfully the photo.

"So dream on cowboy, dream
Sometimes dreams come true"

I really like those lines.

Yee Haw! Dreaming of Rodeo.
Cool! It's been awhile since I've
actually been to one. Hopefully
I will this summer. Our local
rodeo will be coming up soon.
I enjoyed this delightful poem
and am fond of campfire nights.
Thank you for entering Cowboy Up!
