good bye my friend

you are the light in my darkness

my laughter though my tears

my happiness in my times of sorrow

you are my strength in my weakness

the angel that watches my steps

though at first i couldn't find you

i found you with an extended hand out to me

i've always thanked god for sending you

though now your leaving and all that will be left are the memoirs

i will treasure them and try to go on smiling

so for now i wish you luck and try to hide my tears

good bye my friend, my sister, my angel 

till we meet again

I really like what you did here... it is very touching and a moving piece. You also leave some room open to interpretation which i feel is necessary in any poem.

Your good friend could be an actual sister as the poem implies. But might also be something else. A smoking habit, a drug habit, or even a drinking habit that you are kicking to the curb. It could even be a lesbian lover who decided she wasn't a lesbian any more.

So many different ways to take it, thats what I liked about it the most.
